OUR HISTORY

Auromira Architects was founded in 2010 by Mythili Thiagarajan. The name Auromira, drawn from Sanskrit origins, embodies creation and the foundational essence of all existence, aligning with our pursuit of meaningful, purpose-led action in all that we do.

Mythili brings a deep passion for design and a collaborative spirit to every endeavor. Her strong design sensibilities and commitment to teamwork have fostered lasting relationships with clients, resulting in numerous repeat engagements.

Rajan has been an integral part of Auromira’s journey from the beginning. While Mythili was laying the foundation of the firm, he provided steadfast support, all while continuing his professional career at another firm. Today, he plays a key role in business development and project management. With a background in engineering and experience at a global firm, Rajan brings strong problem-solving skills and a sharp eye for detail to every project.

Partners in life and proud parents of two, Mythili and Rajan lead Auromira Architects with complementary strengths, shared values, and a commitment to deliver quality architecture that stands the test of time.

PRINCIPAL

Mythili leads with a deep passion for thoughtful design and a strong commitment to collaboration. Her refined design sensibility and client-centered approach have fostered lasting relationships, with many clients returning for future projects. As Principal, she works closely with clients and the project team to deliver solutions that are both inspiring and aligned with each client’s goals.

Mythili holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Chennai, India, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Minnesota. Before founding Auromira Architects in 2010, she worked with several leading firms in India and the Twin Cities, gaining broad experience across project types and scales.

Rajan Shanmugavelu

PRINCIPAL

Rajan plays a key role at the firm, bringing extensive project management experience and ensuring smooth execution from project inception through completion. Known for being client-focused and detail-oriented, Rajan consistently drives projects forward while keeping quality and goals on track. Beyond day-to-day project oversight, he actively contributes to business development initiatives and manages the firm’s financial health.

Rajan holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of North Dakota. With prior experience at a global firm, he brings a wealth of expertise to each project. He is also an active member of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), staying committed to the latest industry standards and innovations.

Olena Safonova

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER

Olena is an Architectural Designer in the firm. Her perspective on architecture is unique – she believes that architecture is never just about buildings; it’s about people. She is drawn to designing spaces that tell stories, hold memories, and evoke a sense of comfort, wonder, and safety. She is always curious about how buildings affect our emotions and behavior and is always learning – whether through studying, observing, or sketching the built environment.

Olena holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Dunwoody College of Technology. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Design and Technology in Fabric and Knitwear from Kyiv National University of
Technologies and Design.
